Deviance

Why do you think society's definition of deviance has changed over the years? What do you consider as deviant behavior?

i think society's definiton has changed because throughout the years people have learned to be more open-minded to what used to be considered deviant. women getting jobs and showing their independence used to be a deviant thing, but now women are also praised for working and trying to make something of themselves.

in my oppinion, having sex with several different people (hence, the pregnant people at the school) before you're out of high school is a GREAT example of deviant behavior. i think it has gotten worse throughout the years.

i think society's definition of deviance has changed because things that used to be thought as being deviant are now being considered normal. I consider killing people, robbing a store, etc. are deviant behaviors.

i definitely think society's definition has changed over the years. it is nothing compared to what it is now. i know everyone has their own definition of deviance but to me deviance is the breaking of any of the ten commandments.

As the times change, so do the views of the general public. What was taboo fifty years ago is not today. This is a fact of history, an example would be how words that are considered cuss words have changed. like i think i heard that pants used to be bad haha. Anyway, an example of current deviant behavior could be many things like killing, robbing, or whatever. But everyone has their own standard, so it is difficult to determine exactly what deviance is.

Society's definition has changed because people become more accepting of what they had previously considered deviant behavior. I consider harming a person mentally or physically deviant behavior. I think people who are racist and cruel should be considered deviant.

Society's definition of deviance has changed because the American society had become more diversified. We accept different behaviors today because we as a society are more open to a more diverse culture. Deviance to me is behavior that would disappoint your parents if they saw you.

i think society's definition of deviance has changed over the years because people are becoming more and more used to behaviors that used to be considered deviant. i think deviant behavior would be something that would let someone else down (parents/teachers), or commiting some sort of crime, etc.

i believe society's definition of deviance has changed because people in the world today are committing so many new and outrageous crimes that it is hard to set the bar on what is deviant.some are more deviant than others. but i consider murder, robbery, drug abuse and other kind of abuse as deviant behavior.

Deviance society has changed over the years. People are becoming more acceptance toward certain behaviors that were once considered deviance.

i think society's definition has changed because the overall society has changed. i would consider acts that get you into trouble with the law or authority figure to be deviant.

I think society's definition of deviance has changed because the times have changed. More things are accepted now and they weren't in the past. I consider murdering, raping, anything of that sort deviant. But it all depends on the person as to what they see as deviant. Just like they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. I guess you could say deviance is in the eye of the beholder.

Society's definition of deviance has changed because everyone in their own way is deviant. No one can say what normal is because everyone's opinion is different. But to me it is deviant to steal

I think it has changed bc things that used to be considered deviant are now normal.

And like Lakayla said breaking any of the ten commandments is defined as being deviant to me.

I think society's definition of deviance has changed because things that were considered deviant then, are considered "normal" now. I think killing, stealing etc. are deviant behaviors

i think it has changed because there is a new generations and is more open to many things. A while back women getting jobs, African Americans being successful, and many other things would be consider deviant. My opinion i believe arsen, robbery, murder, and individuals who are racist would be consider deviant behavior to me.
